Castlelyons Senior A Hurling management for 2026.

The outgoing management of our Senior hurling team namely:  Michael Spillane, Noel Furlong, Shaun Leneghan, Ciarán McGann, Brian O’Donovan Robbie O’Leary, Pat O’Neill and Paul McSweeney did not take up for 2026.  Club chairperson John McCarthy thanked them for their great work over the last few years at our recently monthly meeting. The new management set up for 2026 was announced and ratified at the recent monthly.  They are as follows: - Manager; Ciarán McGann.  Selectors; Ciarán McGann, Barry Fitzgerald and Peter Murphy.  Coach; Ross Corbett.  Strength & Conditioning; Anthony Kenny.  Stats; David Beausang.  Logistics; Will Daly and Robbie O’Leary.  Our first game in the Red FM hurling league is away to Eire Óg on Sunday 8th March.  We are drawn in a tough Group in the Co-Op Superstores senior A hurling championship with Blarney, Watergrasshill, and Ballyhea. Our first game in the championship is Friday 31st July versus Blarney in Riverstown.  Best of luck to the players and management for the coming year.

Junior Hurling Team Management.

The outgoing management of our junior hurling did not take up for 2026.  They did get to the League final and despite a brave showing were defeated by a very good Fr O’Neills team. A management team for the coming year is being arranged presently and will be presented for ratification at the next monthly meeting.

Football Team Management.

Due to last years county success at Junior C level we have moved on to Junior B football this year and arrangement are being made as regards management.  We have entered an Under 21 side in the East Cork Development Championship.  Well done to Shane O’Flynn who has taken on to manage the under 21 side who are taking part in the Under 21 development league.  Their first game is Friday 23rd January versus Glenville in Castlelyons at 7.30pm.

New Cork hurling captain for Cork’s first league game on Sunday.

Cork GAA has announced that Darragh Fitzgibbon of Charleville has been appointed as captain of the Cork senior hurling team for the new season. The role of vice-captain will be filled by Mark Coleman of Blarney. Congratulations to Darragh and Mark, and we wish them, the Cork panel, and the management team all the best for the new season.  The Rebels play their first league game versus Waterford in SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday 25th January at 15:45. This is Ben O’Connor’s first league game as manager and the excitement is rising again as the tickets are selling very well.

The Cork footballers are on first the same day in the Páirc at 1.30pm versus Cavan in the league.  Cork have won the McGrath Cup recording their first win in Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney in 30 years over their great rivals Kerry.  So, there is a strong interest in the football too.  There is reserved seating for these games so your tickets early to be at the heart of the games.

Rebel Bounty 2026

The Rebels’ Bounty Draw for January, February, and March will be taking place towards the end of March 2026 and after that the draws will take place monthly.  We have a set quota of tickets to sell and while it is fairly demanding for us as a senior club all the proceeds from ticket sales above this quota will go directly to our club.  The profit from sales provides vital funds for Castlelyons GAA.

The purchase of a ticket is a most exciting chance to win great cash prizes while supporting the club. Participants can win one of 30 prizes in each draw, ranging from €100 to €20,000. A special prize of €100,000 will be awarded in December 2026, providing a thrilling end to the year’s draws.

Tickets are priced at €100 each and can be purchased directly from any club member or online through a provided link, making it easy for participants to get involved no matter their location.  There is a special incentive that allows two individuals to jointly purchase a ticket for €50 each, with both names included on the ticket. This helps to share the cost of this great ticket with family or friends.  There is automatic enrolment for current club members who pay by direct debit will be automatically entered into the Rebels’ Bounty Draw through their club, making it easier for them to participate without taking additional steps.

Club and Gym Membership Registration Evening on Tuesday 27th January.

Our Club membership payments are ongoing, and we would appreciate if renewals were expedited as we have some annual expenditure coming up shortly. Only paid-up members for 2026 are eligible and insured to play and use club facilities. Registration for 2026 can be done through Foireann.   We will be holding a special Registration evening on Monday 27th January at 7.30pm.  New members are welcome.  All members are expected to uphold and promote the aims and objectives outlined in the Official Guide of the GAA. This year we are introducing an new security system for the Gym, and each member will have their own unique FOB, and the system will be electronically activated from Saturday 31st January. So please have your membership plus gym paid and come along on Tuesday 27th January for your own unique FOB.  Mick Spillane our Treasurer and Marie Barry our Registrar will be present, and you can also pay you membership or register as a new member on that evening.

Camogie Club – Bingo.

Castlelyons Camogie Club are running a monthly Bingo session in the Community Centre as a fundraiser.  This is a very enjoyable evening with good prizes, refreshments and a raffle.  A special thanks to the large turnout last Saturday night with bingo caller Maurice Carroll playing a blinder.  Stephen Rice was the winner of the Jackpot, and the next Bingo night is on Saturday 21st February.

Castlelyons GAA Lotto Results - Monday 19.1.26 - Jackpot now €20,000

The results of the draw held on Monday 19.1.26 had the following numbers drawn 3, 11,25 and 26. Cork versus Wexford U20 Hurling.

There was a nice turnout for an intercounty challenge game of Cork versus Wexford on Saturday.  Both panels played as there were several changes during the game.  The game was most enjoyable for our juveniles. Our pitch was in great order considering the poor weather recently.
