Strong Castlelyons representation on St Colman’s Harty Panel for Semi Final

Membership

Please ensure that this is paid for 2016 season as soon as possible.  Fees of €50 for Adults and €20 for Students and OAP can be paid to Donal O Leary (Treasurer), Kieran McGann (PRO) or any Club Officer.

Training

Adult Training has started and is going very well despite the poor weather.  There are some indoor and outdoor sessions in Loretto Convent Grounds and it is important t get that early conditioning into the body and hone the skills for summer battles.

Coaching

Coaching in Cumann Luthchleas Gael can be a leading positive influence on today’s young people. The coach can help improve skills, performance, confidence and character.  Equally it is important that the volunteer coach receives suitable training to assist him / her in their work.

Therefore it is most pleasing to note CLCG has revised its Coach Education Programme for all ages and Rebel Óg are now hosting a number of Foundation Courses at various venues.  Great to see that Castlelyons Juveniles  are a Foundation Course on 4th and 5th March and must be complimented on a progressive move.

Ciaran McGann, who was out injured in 2015, has recently completed an Award 1 Adult Coaching Course. This Course is held over six Saturdays followed by a refresher day and is suitable for all adult Club Coaches.  No doubt such Courses will be held in 2016 also and it would be great to get some club members avail of same.

Cork Senior Hurling National League Panel.

Congrats to our man Colm Spillane on making the cut with the Cork senior hurlers for the forthcoming National League. Colm a man of mighty potential but suffered a good bit with injury last year. Better days and best wishes Colm. Nice also to see another new East Corkman, Willie Leahy, Aghada, make the panel as he had a great year with Imokilly last year.

Imokilly Scór Sinsir Finals at Lisgoold Hall on Sunday 31st January at 7.30 pm

The 2016 Imokilly Scór Sinsir Finals will take place at Lisgoold Hall on next Sunday 31st January at 7.30 pm.  Castlelyons has a reasonable representation with a Ballad Group, a Storyteller, and a Quiz Team.  Overall, there are a good number of entries and it should make great night’s competitive entertainment.  So we are requesting all patrons to come to Lisgoold Sunday night and support Castlelyons.

Also we best wishes to Ms Laura Whelan of our neighbours the Lisgoold Club in the All Ireland Scór na nÓg Finals which are being held in Killarney shortly.  Laura takes part in the Recitation and qualifies after her great victories in Cork and Munster.

Good Luck to St Colman’s in Dr Harty Cup Semi Final.

The Dr Harty Cup Finals takes place on next Saturday.  Our Lady’s College, Templemore take on DLS Waterford in Cashel at 2 pm and having worked and breathed the Tipperary air for a few years in Templemore they take their hurling so serious there but so do Waterford.  However, I still think that the game of the day is St Colman’s versus Ard Scoil in Kilmallock at 12 noon on Saturday under the watchful eye of a good referee, John McCormack.  Colman’s have a tough assignment but can do it and we wish them the very best and, in particular, good luck to Neil, Jamie and Keith O Leary, Barry Murphy and John Paul Murphy all Castlelyons men on the team and panel.
