Blitz's, Cúl Camp and lots of Activity

U6/U8

Training continues twice a week: Wednesday’s 7-8pm and Saturday’s 10-11am. The next blitz (hurling) for this age group takes place on Saturday, May the 23rd, and is currently scheduled for Fermoy. Parents/guardians will be notified by text.

U10

Training continues twice a week for these boys. On Saturday the 16th of May we travelled to Carrigtwohill GAA grounds for an U10 hurling blitz.  We had nine players attending with our first match against St. Catherine's - we played very well against a side with ten players and it was a very even game. Next up were Lisgoold, there was some fine scoring in this game from both teams, and some great open play. Our final game was against Killeagh and again our lads did the jersey proud and played both good ground hurling and from the hand. Those who attended were: Aaron Goggin, Patrick Dooley, Cathal O’Riordan, Brian Spillane, Ruiari Counihan (c), Eoin McMurtry, William Verling, Jack Cremin and David Hegarty. Thanks also to the parents who travelled with the lads to the blitz it's great to hear all the encouragement from the sideline. We will be taking part in the annual U10 Ballyduff Upper Outdoor Hurling Blitz on the weekend of May the 22nd. Last night our U10’s played Fermoy in a hurling challenge match – report to follow.

U11/U12

Training continues weekly for this group. Our U12 had a mixed week, last week, with two away games in both hurling and football. First up was St Colmans in hurling. St Colmans always have strong panels and with the Cloyne tradition, they don’t get beaten easily. However our lads produced probably their best game so far this season and with a good lead built up in the first half we went on to win giving us much needed points in our league. Our panel on the night was: Michael O Sullivan, Michael Griffin, Colm McCarthy, Dara Spillane, Oscar Hallihan, James Cullinane, Ian O Sullivan, Evan Lenehan, Marc Callinan, Cees Kouwenberg, Luke McCarthy, Gearoid O Sullivan, Aaron Fenton Alex Murphy and Anthony Moran.

On Friday last we played Lisgoold in U12 football. Lisgoold have a huge panel available to them this year, and, with very good results so far, we didn’t expect too much from our lads going into this one. So it was encouraging to see our lads put up a great performance and if we had a small bit of luck we could have won against a very strong and defensive minded Lisgoold side. Our panel was: Marc Callinan, Peter Greaney, Ian O Sullivan, Michael Griffin, Alex Murphy, Leon Shanahan, David Jones, James Cullinane, Colm McCarthy, Jody Whelan, Evan Lenehan, Oscar Hallihan, Michael O Sullivan and Dara Spillane. Upcoming fixtures: U12 hurling league v Fr O’Neills on Wednesday the 20th May and U12 hurling league v Watergrasshill on Saturday the 23rd May.

U13/U14

On Thursday the 14th May our U14’s played Passage in the 4th round of the U14 B Grade Football League. Passage proved too strong on the night with the vast majority of their panel on the age and ran out easy winners. Credit to Castlelyons on the night for not letting the heads drop and giving it their all for the full of the match with only 5 players on the age. Panel: Colm McCarthy, Michael O'Sullivan, Peter Hegarty, Anthony Moran, Stephen Casey, Jack Kenny, Shane Cotter, Evan Lenehan, Richard Morrison, Declan Morrison, Dara Spillane, Eoghan Dolan, Gavin O'Neill, William Moran & Scott O'Brien.
