U15A  Hurlers record comprehensive win.

Castlelyons 6-14, Tracton 2-5.

Last Wednesday night in Castlelyons our U15A Hurlers took on Tracton in the Eastern A Grade Hurling League. On a warm but breezy night Castlelyons lads were on top from the start.  Despite playing against the breeze in the first half we led by 2-9 to 2-1 at half time.

Scores in this half came from Mark Spillane (1-3), Conor McCarthy (0-2), Pearse Varner (0-1), Ian Riordan (0-1), Barry Murphy (0-1) and Eoin O Neill (0-1).

Castlelyons mentors made a few positional changes at the break and were able to use the entire panel during second half.  Playing with the breeze in the second half Castlelyons dominated with some fine performances in defence and midfield and ran out worthy winners in the end. Scores in this half came from Barry Murphy (3-02) Seamus Moroney (1-1), Conor McCarthy (0-2), and David Morrisson (0-1).

U12A Hurling league

Last week we played our last two games in the U12A Hurling league.  Up first was Aghada, who came to Castlelyons last Thursday. They are under pressure for numbers at this grade and while we were short a few due to holidays etc, we gave a good account of ourselves and took the points.

On Saturday last then we went to Carrigtwohill in the same competition, this was a different story as Carrigtwohill have plenty boys on the age and they are a fine hurling side. We gave a good as we got for a lot of the game and it was great to see the effort put in, however, Carrigtwohill were too strong for us and ran out winners in the end.

Our panel for these games: - Colm McCarthy, Eoghan Dolan, Declan Morrison, Stephen Casey, Michael Griffin, Ian O Sullivan, Michael O Sullivan, Evan Lenehan, Oscar Hallihan, Leon Doocey, Gavin O Neill, Dara Spillane, James Cullinane, William Moran, Luke McCarthy and Peter Greaney.

U11 Footballers

Also we got a chance to play our U11 Footballers at half-time in Pairc Uí Rinn last Sunday during the Junior B County Final. This was a great thrill for the lads to play in front of a big crowd and they really enjoyed it.

Under 10 Hurling

Our U10s were back training during the week and on Saturday played in the John Daly Blitz in Ballyduff. We were missing some of our older players but played our hearts out against Ballyduff, Cois Brid and Kilara Og. A lovely mornings hurling was had in Ballyduff, A big thank you to the parents who drove and voiced their support for the players.

Congratulations

Finally, we must congratulate our Junior B footballers, who, led by Barry Fitzgerald won the county last Sunday in dramatic fashion! Well done to all involved.
