Premier Intermediate Hurling League Defeat.

Castlelyons 3-13 Meelin 3-14

Castlelyons and Meelin played round 8 of the PI Hurling league in Meelin on Sunday last. On a dry bright morning this resulted in a fast free flowing game with Meelin edging it in the last minute. R Feeney had our first score in the 1st minute and when A Fenton pointed a 65 we were 2 points up after 5 minutes. Meelin levelled the match shortly after and for the next 15 minutes they dominated, scoring 2-05, with R Feeney, R O Regan and A Fenton replying for Castlelyons to leave Meelin leading at half time by 2-07 to 0-07.

Castlelyons upped their game in the second half and with points from S Moroney and R Bransfield we reduced their lead. R Bransfield and D Tobin combined to score a very well worked goal and when A Fenton scored 2 goals in the next 5 mins we were 3 points ahead with 5 mins to play. However we could not hold on to the lead as Meelin got in for a goal to level the game and they went on to win with a point from a free in the last minute. A disappointing result but some very good performances and great effort by all that played.

They now go on to play Wexford in the final on 9th August in Dungarvan and we wish them the best of luck.
