Footballers through to County Final
Castlelyons 0-07 Grange 1-02
Castlelyons and Grange played the semi final of the County Junior B Football Championship on Saturday evening last in Fermoy. In a match where we dominated possession all through we should have been well ahead at half time but because of very poor shooting and failure to let the ball into better placed players Grange were still in this match up to the very end. A Spillane had our first score when he pointed after 2 mins but Grange got in for a goal and a point after 10 mins to take the lead. Ronan Bransfield scored a 45 after 15 mins and for the rest of the half we could not break down the Grange defence until Ronan Fenton pointed to leave Grange leading by 1 point at half time.
The second half was a copy of the first as we dominated possession but failing on the scoreboard. Ronan Bransfield and Anthony Spillane scored 1 point each in the first 10 mins to put us ahead and even though Grange levelled the match we scored 2 more points to win on a score of 0-07 to 1-02. We are now through to County Junior B Final against Kilmeen, who we defeated in the first round, and if we can rectify our shooting we will face into this final with confidence.

Minor Football
Castlelyons 2-04 St Finbarrs 1-12
Castlelyons played St Finbarrs in a football league match in Castlelyons on Thursday evening last. On the night, between holidays and injuries, we had only 14 players to call on. St Finbarrs with their numerical advantage had the most of the chances but were wasteful in front of goal while Castlelyons converted what chances they got through J O Leary 0-1, J Barry 0-01 and N O Leary 1-01 to go in at half time 1 point behind on a score of 1-02 to 0-06. Second half saw us loose 2 players to injuries but the remaining players put up a great performance with the defence outstanding. Points from N O Leary and T Stephenson and a goal from B Murphy saw us run out gallant losers on a score of 2-04 to 1-12.This was a good run out for the team ahead of the football championship which is scheduled for Wednesday 23rd against St Vincents in Rathcormac @ 7.00 pm and your support on the night would be appreciated.
