Good Win for U15 Hurlers.

Watergrasshill 2-8, Castlelyons 3-21.

Barry Murphy cuts through the St Finbarrs defence last weekLast Friday night in Watergrasshill Castlelyons U15 Hurlers took on the home side in the Eastern A Grade Hurling League. On a warm but breezy and cloudy night Castlelyons lads put in a good performance over the hour to emerge clear winners at the final whistle.

Playing with the strong breeze in the first half Castlelyons made this advantage count as they got some fine scores in this half.  Scores in this half came from Barry Murphy 1-6, Mark Spillane 0-6 and Seamus Moroney 0-2 to leave Castlelyons ahead by a wide margin at half time. Second half saw the Hill playing with the breeze and they made this count scoring two early goals. However Castlelyons lads responded and played some fine hurling against the wind in this half although in fairness to the Hill they made them work for their scores. Scores in this half came from Mark Spillane 1-4, Eoin O Neill 1-0, Barry Murphy 0-2, and Brian O Mahony 0-1.

Team: - John Paul Murphy, Thomas Gunther Quinn, Redmond Walsh, Michael Buckley, Peter Roche, Seamus Moroney, James Kearney, Ian Riordan, James McCarthy, David Morrison, Barry Murphy, Conor McCarthy, Eoin O Neill, Mark Spillane, Brian O Mahony.

Congratulations

Castlelyons Juvenile Club would like to congratulate Colm Barry, Colm Spillane and Anthony Spillane who were members of the Cork U21 Hurling team that recorded a fantastic victory over Waterford in the Munster U21 Hurling Semi Final. The 3 lads were key members of a fine Cork team that played some wonderful hurling and registered a comprehensive win over the home team. We wish the lads and the Cork team the best of luck in the Munster Final next Wednesday.
