Brave Display by our U16 Hurlers in Championship.

Castlelyons 2 - 11 St Finbarrs   4 - 8

On Monday night Castlelyons U16 Hurlers travelled to Delaney’s Grounds to take on St. Finbarrs in the 3rd round of the championship.  A great evening for hurling and with the aid of a slight breeze Castlelyons started well scoring a goal and three points to one point to St. Finbarrs.  Finbarrs fought back but Castlelyons went in at half time up two points on a score of 1 - 6 to 1 - 4.

The breeze increased somewhat In the second half and St. Finbarrs scored three fast goals to leave Castlelyons with a lot of work to do.  They fought bravely to the final whistle only to lose out by three points. Castlelyons showed great character and heart and battled to the final whistle.  A great team effort and all mentors were very proud of them.  This team is laden with good hurlers and I feel we will hear more of them in time.

U 12 Footballers Win Again

Last Saturday we played Fr O Neills in our U 12 Football league in Castlelyons. Fr O Neills have had a great run so far in this league and were hoping to pick up more points on Saturday.

In the first half it looked as though they might, as they picked off some lovely points. However with Colm in super form in goals and our defensive of William, Luke, Michael, Alex and Gavin we kept the score low and, more importantly we didn't let them through for any goals.

Things improved for us in the second half and along with our solid defensive, Eoghan, Evan and Declan were getting on top at midfield. Up front we never stopped working with great performances from Brian, Benny, Michael and our three Ians we managed to score four goals to win by three points at the end. The final score was 4 - 4 to 1 - 10 Given the time of year, we were missing some of our panel but great credit to all the lads who played, their attitude was spot on.
