Castlelyons GAA Notes WE 2.7.18 2018-07-05 19:45:00

Cork take second Munster in a row.

Well all the excitement has come and gone and its two in a row for Cork over Clare in Munster finals. A massive day in Thurles. Clare hit the front early and looked good but were reeled back to just a four-point lead before half time and Cork came back. Then at half time the rebels left the Banner boys fry in the massive heat for over five minutes and on the restart, it was back with a bang for the Rebels as they literally took over. There were many heroes for Cork with man of the match Sheamie Harnedy but surely in the reckoning was our own Colm Spillane as he moved over and quietened Clare’s top man John Conlon. Well done to the Rebels and to Colm a lot done and more to do. They are looking better than last year and hopefully the McCarthy Cup may make its way back to Cork and Castlelyons for 2018.

Congrats also to Jack Cremin, Castlelyons who took part in the Munster Primary Go Games between An Clár agus Corcaigh, surely a day to remember for Jack and his family and hopefully even bigger days ahead.

Cork U21 hurlers play Tipperary in Munster Final

Cork U21 hurlers backboned many of the senior team and panel are taking on Tipperary in another big evening in the Park on Wednesday evening. Castlelyons will be represented by Niall O Leary and we wish him the best. Niall had an outstanding year last year as he anchored county champions Imokilly from centre back and is keeping up the great form.

Castlelyons play Ballinhassig.

Castlelyons play Ballinhassig in the Premier hurling league next Tuesday evening the 10th July at home. Ballinhassig lead the Premiership with one point more than us and a game less played. However, some of our injured players are in recovery mode and maybe we could have on or two back would help.
