Castlelyons Juvenile GAA Club Notes 19.01.2017 2017-01-19 14:46:00

Upcoming Social Event;

With ticket sales exceeding all expectations, there are a limited number of tickets available for the upcoming Castlelyons Camogie and Juvenile Social in the Midleton Park, Saturday January 28th.

The teams invited to attend are U12, U13, U14, U15, U16 and U18 along with their parents. As this is not a fundraising event, costs are being kept to a minimum with Adult tickets (4 Course Meal) costing €20 per ticket and Children’s Menu costing €10 per ticket.

Limited tickets are available from Helen Hussey (Camogie Club) and Elaine Murphy (Juvenile Club). Tickets can be paid for and collected on Friday January 20th at 3.00pm in the school park. Alternatively, you can contact Helen on 086 170 1164 or Elaine 086 604 2387 directly to arrange collection and payment of tickets. We look forward to seeing you there on the night.

Registration Night;

The Juvenile club will hold its annual registration night early in February. Last year’s registration night was a massive success with over 100 juvenile members registering on the night. This year, we hope to have the new club gear on display along with hurley’s and helmets for sale. More details to follow over the coming weeks.

New Season.

The 2017 season has commenced with our U14’s and minors back to training already. Pat O Sullivan has taken the helm with our U14 lads and they started their fitness training over the past number of weeks. Meanwhile, James O Neill has moved with some of last year’s U16 County Champions and is now mentoring the minor panel. Donal O Callaghan plans to start back this Saturday morning with the U10’s at the astro turf. As with last year, a fee of €2 per child applies to the astro turf training to cover the costs of the rental. We look forward to keeping you updated on all the teams’ progress over the coming weeks and months.

 We are recruiting boys of all ages 6-18 so if your son is interested in playing, please contact our juvenile secretary, Lorna Murphy on 086 8205385. Everyone is welcome to attend a training session or two to see if they would like to become involved.

Scor Na bPaisti 2017;

It's that time of the year again with Scor Na Paisti coming up. Please see details below and if you think your child would be interested in attending, please contact Kieran McGann. Kieran has been doing tremendous work with Scor in the past. Information regarding Scor has been sent to schools in the past few days and the clubs will be following up to assess the interest for this year’s competition.

Castlelyons Juvenile and Camogie club have entered teams over the past number of years and enjoyed very successful nights out, it's a worthwhile and fun evening for the children. Events vary from dancing and singing to table quizzes, both individual and team categories, there is something for everyone.

"Cumann Lúthchleas Gael on promoting Scór at all levels, has helped to play an important role on the revival of our culture and heritage. This time we have the Scór Na bPaistí 2016/2017 Competition in Uí Mac Coille and we are asking all Schools/Clubs in the Division to take part.

There are 10 events/disciplines in Scór for 2016/17 and you as a Club can take part in any one or all. These disciplines cover all aspects of Irish culture, Figure/Céilí Dancing, Solo Singing, Recitation/Storytelling, Instrumental Music, Novelty Act, Ballad Group, Set Dancing, Table Quiz, Solo Dancing and Solo Music."

The Quarter Finals are now on the following dates and times: -

February 10th 2017 at 7pm.

February 11th 2017 at 6.30pm

February 12th 2017 at 2pm and 6.30pm.

All quarter finals will be held in Lisgoold community Hall and clubs must be available to par-take on any date and time due to the large volume of clubs participating. Entry forms are available in the school and from the club secretary and Kieran Mc Gann. We would like to wish all participants the very best of luck this year.

Volunteers;

We are always seeking new players from six years upwards and of course all those who have played with other clubs and are now living in the area, are more than welcome to join. People who never played GAA are also encouraged to become involved, perhaps your skill lies in IT or catering, fundraising or flag making. Perhaps, you might like to help with the coaching or training sessions. If you could give an hour a week or a month to Castlelyons Juvenile GAA, your help would be greatly received. In the next few weeks, the club will be back to its full momentum with training of all underage groups ongoing on a weekly basis. If you would like to get involved, please contact any member of the committee. With over 120 juvenile members, there is always something to be done.

Lotto;

The Club would like to invite all members where possible to join the Club’s Lotto. The lotto is a major financial contributor to the club and is a much needed source of income. Annual lotto tickets can be purchased from any of the clubs executive members while weekly tickets can be obtained from the many Lotto ticket sellers/businesses in the parish.

We are back this week with a lotto jackpot of €7,800 and tickets can be purchased in Murphy’s Vehicle Repairs, Sharon’s Hair Design, Fitzgerald Butchers Fermoy, Mc Donnell’s Coolagown, The Abbey Tavern and from the usual ticket sellers and promoters.

Sponsor;

We would like to sincerely thank Riordan’s Supervalu for their ongoing sponsorship of the Juvenile Club. Michael and Martha have been and continue to be great supporters of the club. We would ask everyone, in turn, to support local and support Riordan’s Supervalu.
