Castlelyons Juvenile GAA Club Notes: 07.06.2016

Castlelyons Camogie Celebrates;

The Juvenile Club would like to congratulate the Junior Camogie Ladies on their emphatic win against Ballinora in the Junior C League Final last week in Castle Road. This has been a long time coming for the Ladies and their commitment never ceases to amaze us. Well done again ladies – fantastic achievement.

School’s Coaching Sessions;

Last week saw the start of our school’s coaching sessions. This year, due to huge interest and demand, we have five transition & fifth year students going into both Kilmagner and Castlelyons National Schools. The coaching will run every Monday for 4 consecutive weeks and will be led by Noel O’Brien from Ballynoe. Under Noel’s supervision, we hope that the children will gain added knowledge and skills over the coming weeks and for those who don’t normally play, we hope that these sessions will encourage them to join their local team.

Each session lasts 30 minutes and with the six coaches, it ensures that each child will receive individual attention. If you would like any further information on the coaching sessions, please contact Shane O Neill, Coaching Officer.

GAA Club gear;

At this stage, anyone that ordered gear from the Club shop in May should have received their order in full. If you haven’t please contact Mary or Elaine to arrange collection.

The shop has proved very successful and it is hoped to have a more permanent shop in place over the coming months. We currently have a stock of Crested Shorts, Long & Midi Socks available for purchase. If you would like to order any gear or have any suggestions please do not hesitate to contact Mary or Elaine.

U6/U7/U8;

Training continued last Saturday on the main pitch for our younger stars. Confidence and competence are building and we are looking forward to some upcoming matches and blitzes to enhance the skills already learned to date.

U9/U10;

Our U10’s played in the Semi-final of the Ballyduff Hurling blitz last weekend and lost out narrowly to An Gaeltacht (Ring, co Waterford). To their credit, they then went on to participate in the Plate competition but again, lost out to a strong Roanmore side. On a hot summer’s day, the boys played very well and never gave up, with particularly good displays from Tom O Neill and Cathal O Riordan. Every boy gave his all on the pitch and certainly made this coach very proud. Well done to everyone, Onwards and Upwards.

We head to Lisgoold this Saturday for an U9/U10 hurling blitz and we look forward to a good days hurling.

U11/U12;

Training continues every Wednesday and Saturday with times confirmed by text.

U13/U14;

Our U13 Footballers are away to Carrigtwohill on Monday next at 7.30 in Carrigtwohill while our U14 Footballers are away to Blarney on Monday 20th at 7.30pm. We look forward to your continued support.

U16;

Championship is only around the corner and Monday June 20th has been set as the date for our U16’s to kick start their season. Their first match sees them take on Kilta Og with venue and time to be confirmed.

It is important that everyone available, attend the upcoming training sessions, to ensure match fitness for this significant match.

Our U16’s have had a great season to date, having strong numbers playing well. James O Neill and Mark O Flynn have been working hard behind the scenes with training drills and fitness which is sure to stand to the boys over the coming months.

We look forward to supporting to the lads on the night on what has the makings of a great match.

 Cul Camp;

Cul Camp registrations are currently being taken after school and during training sessions. Our camp this year will be run from Monday July 4th to Friday July 8th. It will be run for boys and girls aged 6-13.

The cost of the camp is €55 for the First Child, €45 for the Second and €40 for the third and subsequent children.

To avoid disappointment, book your place early. It’s a camp, not to be missed.

Lotto;

Our lotto stands at a massive €9,600. Tickets can be purchased in Sharon’s Hair Design, Glanbia Castlelyons, Murphy’s Vehicle Repairs and from the usual ticket sellers and promoters. With a great return for your €2, can you afford not to play???

Sponsor;

SuperValu have been a fantastic sponsor to the Juvenile Club down through the years and we would urge all our players and parents to support local and support Riordan’s Supervalu.
