Castlelyons Juvenile GAA Club Notes 21.04.2016 2016-04-21 11:05:00

Communions;

We would like to wish all our players, making their First Holy Communion this Saturday, a wonderful day.

Club Gear;

This week has seen the club start off a club shop. We held a very successful fitting night this week for training tops, shorts and socks. The order will be processed and sent off on Friday April 29th and we are hoping to have the gear back to parents and players within three weeks. If you didn’t make the fitting night, or would like to order any of the gear, you can contact Mary, Lorna or Elaine. We do require payment in full on or before April 29th.

We are hoping to keep shorts and socks in stock permanently going forward and we also hope to expand the range as time goes on. If any parents or players have any suggestions or would like to help in any way, please don’t hesitate to talk to anyone on the committee.

Rebel Og Feile 2016;

We would like to wish our U14’s Best of Luck this weekend, as they partake in the Rebel Og Feile 2016 in Carrigtwohill. For all the fantastic drivers and parents, make sure you allow yourself plenty of time as it will be a busy morning, with over 40 clubs taking part. #CastlelyonsAbu

Primary School Games;

We want to wish Best of Luck to Evan Lenehan and Michael O Sullivan, as they represent Castlelyons National School, when they respectively take part in the Cork Primary Games Hurling and Football Trials this Friday and Monday. #Castlelyonsabu

Sciath Na Scol;

We would like to congratulate the boys and girls, who took part in Sciath na Scol Matches over the past number of days. The girls lost one match to Dungourney but won their second. Unfortunately, the girls were beaten yesterday in their match against Brooklodge.

Our boys played their second match against Cloyne yesterday, Wednesday April 20th and ran out clear winners with a scoreline of 2-10 to 1-0. Congratulations boys and well done. We look forward to the next match.

It’s good to remember, for every match played, win or lose, it adds to the player’s ability and experience.

Rebel Og Coaching;

We have received our Rebel Og Benchmark 2020 Vision Award over the past couple of weeks. This was achieved during 2015 for coaching excellence and best practise. Our managers and coaches deserve all the praise for this one and we would like to thank them for their time and dedication which was paramount in this accomplishment.

For 2016, the aim of the committee and club, is to try and achieve the Silver Award. We hope, that again with the assistance of players, coaches and parents, that this will be achievable.

U7/8;

We trained this week in the astro turf and we had over 20 children participate in the U7/U8 training session. It was a great turn out and the boys are progressing very well. We are hoping to play a couple of matches over the coming weeks and details will be sent out by text.

U9/U10;

On the pitch this week we kicked off the first session of the hurling skills passport and there was some great displays by the boys in completing the various challenges. A big thank you to members of the minor panel, Redmond Walsh, Jack Ronayne, Pearce Varner and Aoife Beausang from the camoige who helped out on the day. Having recently competed their Foundation Level coaching course it is great to see these lads out coaching and encouraging the next generation and the younger kids really look up to them.

Our focus moves to football this week with Football training on Thursday evening 7-8pm on Leahy’s field. We will have no training/blitz this Saturday on account of the First Communion and we wish all the boys getting their communions a great day out.

U11/U12;

Our U11/U12’s are training well to date. We have good numbers turning up for training and the lads are working very hard.

U13/U14;

Following a tough battle last Thursday night, we lost out to a very strong Watergrasshill side in Watergrasshill. The lads determination can never be questioned and they fought hard right to the end but unfortunately it wasn’t our night. Due to a couple of match clashes and timing schedules, training was cancelled on Monday. We have an away match in the football league v Whites Cross on Thursday night and would love to see your support. We will be back at it full speed after the weekend and look forward to seeing everyone at training over the coming weeks.

U16;

Training is progressing very well with a very strong turn out. Mark O Flynn is working hard with all the team and the benefits of the training are really showing. We take on Ballygiblin at home on Friday evening, April 22nd at 7pm and then we are away to Lisgoold on Sunday April 24th for the football league with a kick off of 11.30am. We would like to thank parents for their continued and loyal support and look forward to seeing you all again Friday night.

U18;

We are due to play St Catherine’s in Ballynoe in our next league match on Thursday the 28th of April. Throw in is at 7pm and we look forward to some support on the night.

Trainings are going very well, training every Monday and Thursday 7-8:30 in the main pitch with the lads showing great commitment and enthusiasm.

Lotto;

There was no winner of this week’s lotto so next Monday nights jackpot will be a Whopping € 8,400. Lucky Dip Winners drawn on Monday April 18th were Fergal Crowley, Joan O Callaghan, Breda Cotter, Pat Pyne, Pauline Sheehan, Rob O Leary and Mary Buckley.

Annual lotto tickets can be purchased from any of the clubs executive members while weekly tickets can be obtained from the many Lotto ticket sellers/businesses in the parish. We would like to thank everyone who supports lotto and to those who would like to start buying tickets, it’s never too late. Remember, if you’re not in, you can’t win.
