Ballinhassig 9-7, Castlelyons 2-9

Last Monday night Castlelyons U16 Footballers made the long journey to Ballinhassig to take on the home side in the U16 Football Championship. Ballinhassig play Premier Grade in Hurling and with all their players up to the age they are hot favorites to win the County Football.

On a lovely evening for football Castlelyons lads put up a brave performance and at times played some nice football but in the end had to give way to a superior Ballinhassig side.

Half time score read Ballinhassig 4-4 Castlelyons 2-5.  However, the the second half proved too much for Castlelyons as Ballinhassig went for goals at every opportunity.  To be fair to the Castlelyons lads they never gave up and had a few goal chances themselves that weren't converted whereas Ballinhassig were clinical in front of goals and well deserved their victory.
