U6/U8

Training continues twice a week with all parents being notified by text - we have also started football training. The Go Games have commenced this year and saw us taking on Glen Rovers at home last Monday night. On the night we had 19 girls and put out 2 teams: an U8 and an U7 team. All the girls played very well and enjoyed themselves. Thanks to all the parents who came out and supported the girls on what was a cold and wet night. Panel on the night was: Allegra Mack, Emily Murphy, Sive Hallihan, Hannah Cotter, Lucy Maher, Sallyann O’Sullivan, Phoebe Hallihan, Aoiffe O’Mahony, Anna McMurtry, Caoimhe Grey-Walsh, Amelia O’Neill, Siobhan Crowley, Asling Rosner, Niamh O’Sullivan, Emma Counihan, Amie Forde, Aine O’Brien, Emer Hallihan, Gretta Mack & Zoe Browne. Our next game is provisionally fixed for Saturday the 30th May @ 10am and will be away to Eire Og where we hope to bring an U8 and U7 team again. Remaining provisional fixtures are: Saturday 13/6: Blitz @ Glen Rovers; Tuesday 23/6: Away v Ballincollig; Saturday 4/7: Blitz @ Ballincollig: Tuesday 14/7: Away v Tracton.

U10

These girls are now training twice a week on Monday nights & Saturday mornings with parents being notified by text. In the first of our Go Games this year our U10’s played Castlemartyr last Monday night with the away team eventually winning by 7 goals to 4. We had a great turnout from the girls who put it up to a very strong Castlemartyr outfit. Everyone played their part and we look forward to improving more as the season progresses. Go Games Blitz’s for this age group continue with provisional dates as follows: Tuesday 26/5: Away v Aghada; Tuesday 9/6: Away v Cobh; Tuesday 16/6: Home v Carrigtwohill; Tuesday 23/6: Away v Castlemartyr ; Tuesday 30/6: Home v Aghada; Tuesday 14/7: Home v Cobh; Tuesday 21/7: Away v Carrigtwohill.

U12

Our next league game is at home on Friday May the 22nd against Kildorrery @ 7pm and we are away to Watergrasshill on June 6th & at home against Erin's Own on June 20th. Training continues every Tuesday 7-8pm in the GAA pitch.

U13

Our U13 girls played St. Catherine’s in a challenge match last Wednesday night – full report to full in next week’s notes. This should also help our Sciath Na Scol team in preparation for their final v Dungourney in Nemo Rangers on Thursday the 28th May at 12 noon.

Minor/Junior

There is minor and junior training on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Our tuck shop is now up and running at all home matches – tea/coffee/minerals/chocolate/crisps are all available to purchase at great prices so please support. Orla Cotter, current Cork Camogie Player, will host a workshop in Castlelyons for all girls from U10 to U18 on Saturday the 23rd Mat from 10am – 1pm – more information will follow from each manager to their respective groups.

Our proposed bake sale is taking place on Sunday the 24th May at both 10am mass inn Coolagown and 11:30am mass in Castlelyons. We would ask all parents to support this fundraising initiative as generously as possible with baking being taken by committee members at this Saturday’s training sessions and indeed before both masses.

Cúl Camp

The 2015 Cul Camp will take place from Monday the 29th June to Friday the 3rd July. Online entries can be completed now. Application forms and payment will be taken at all training sessions from the 1st week of June - further details to follow.

Fundraising

Our flag day, which takes place in Fermoy, on the 4th July will need helpers on the day – text will go out from each manager.

We will also be hosting a Camogie Monster Blitz on Sunday the 12th July with details to be advised over the coming weeks. Please like and share our Facebook page “Castlelyons Camogie Club” where all up to date news can be found include match reports, fixtures etc.

From the start of June the 3 clubs in the parish: Castlelyons GAA Club, Castlelyons Juvenile GAA & Castlelyons Camogie Club will be promoting the club lotto to new members - this lotto, which is held every Monday night, costs €2/line and provides patrons a great opportunity to win the jackpot prize, spot prizes and also enables the 3 clubs to benefit from the lotto. Benefits include infrastructure development, training gear, new jerseys, payment of ref fees etc. We would ask that parents and guardians try and support the club lotto when possible.

The Castlelyons GAA Club Gear Shop is now online on Castlelyons GAA club website with crested club gear, including hoodies, fleeces, shorts, jerseys, gear bags, rucksacks, beanie hats. All gear is as cost price and delivery is direct to your door by courier so please support the club. We hope to get Camogie club gear online shortly.

The Camogie Club will be holding a clothes collection on the 1st Friday of June, July, August and September. On Friday June the 5th, between 2-4pm & 6-8pm, we will be taking all your unwanted clean clothes, including bed linen, towels, curtains, paired shoes, bags, belts and soft toys. We would also be delighted to accept any of your out-grown hurleys, helmets and skorts at the youth café.
