Harty Cup blow for St Colman's and Castlelyons lads 2014-10-15 16:10:00

Gaelcholáiste Mhuire 2 -14; St Colmans 0 - 7

The second round of the Harty Cup played today in sunny dry conditions after a wet morning in Watergrasshill  ended in defeat for St Colman’s.  Gaelcholáiste Mhuire (old North Mon) side from the city were very strong on the ball and dominated from the throw in.

Playing up hill in the first half St Colman’s were always under pressure.   Gaelcholáiste Mhuire had the luxury of placing Cork minor star Dane Lee at No 14 on the edge of the square as they had strong lads in all areas and the half time score was 1-8 to 0-4.

Gaelcholáiste Mhuire kept up the pressure for the second half scoring 1-6 while St Colman’s could only manage 0-3.  Colman’s did go for goal a few times after good work but the Blues backs held firm.  Nevertheless, Colman’s fought gamely fought gamely but were not good enough on the day.

Well done to Castlelyons lads on the team – Declan Varner, Niall and Jamie O Leary & Shane Fenton â€“ they all done well in the circumstances.
