Preview: Castlelyons v Kanturk in PIH Championship - Sunday 30.4 2017-04-27 19:47:00

All roads lead to Castletownroche on Sunday at 3.30 pm for our game with Kanturk in the first round of the Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship. We do have some injuries but we must be completely positive and go all out for this one as Kanturk will provide stiff opposition and are serious contenders for the county double this year in hurling and football. Looking at their outfit it shows a host of men with intercounty experience who have worn the Cork jersey at various levels in Anthony Nash, Darren Browne, Lorcan McLaughlin, Jerome Walsh, John Browne, Lorcan O Neill. That great warrior Aidan Walsh may be unavailable to them on Sunday due to injury. They are fresh after a mighty win over Mitchelstown in the football championship last Sunday too and will start as big favourites next Sunday

However, we have done reasonable in the League to date although this form is not always an indicator for the championship. We have been unfortunate with injuries and we are on tender hooks as to availability of the full deck. This gives the management of bit of a job to get out the best team for the day and get them mentally right. I must give the lads credit for great effort this year as they have made serious effort in the gym and on the field. However, no matter what weights one lifts or protein one takes it is the heart for the battle on the day that counts. Hopefully, we will be ready and we wish the very best of luck to Mick Spillane, his selectors and the lads. We would appeal to all to come along a bit early as there is a big crowd expected en route in Ballyhooly for the Fermoy v Kilworth game too. So folks we had fierce shouts in 2016 for the men of 1916 let’s give that great traditional shout for the men of 2017 on Sunday. Castlelyons Abú.

Also on Sunday evening our Minor Hurlers play Cuchulainns(Kanturk) in the North Cork Minor A Hurling League. This game is on right afterthe Premier one also in Castletownroche at 5.30 pm so you can stay on and givethem a shout too.

We have one game played to date in this league and have nopoints but are above Cuchulainns on a better scoring average as they have nopoints from two games.  Kilshannig leadthis league with 5 points from three games.
